- Century-old decking. Pre-war homes in Irvington, Broad Ripple, and Meridian-Kessler often have plank or skip-sheathing decks that need repair or full re-decking at tear-off. We inspect from the attic first whenever we can get up there, and we price the decking work before we start. A bid that doesn’t mention your deck on a 1915 house is a bid that’s planning a change order.
- Steep-slope and low-slope on the same house. Older city homes mix steep main roofs with flat porch roofs, sleeping porches, and additions. Shingles below about a 2:12 pitch will leak, period.
