August 23 Derecho: Metro-Wide Wind Damage
A derecho (widespread wind storm) tracked across Indiana from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with sustained winds of 60-70 mph and peak gusts to 85 mph recorded across the metro.
June 29 Hail: Golf Ball Size in Carmel & Fishers
A supercell thunderstorm moved extremely slowly (10-15 mph) across northern Hamilton County from 7:00 to 9:00 PM, producing hail from 1.25 to 1.75 inches.
May 7 Hail: Metro-Wide Impact
Multiple severe thunderstorms tracked across the metro from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, each producing hail in the 1.0 to 1.5 inch range.
May 15, 2024: Historic Hail Across the Indianapolis Metro
A series of supercell thunderstorms produced some of the largest hail Indianapolis has seen in over a decade, with hail up to 2.5 inches (baseball size) in Carmel.
June 29, 2023: Derecho Winds Across the Indianapolis Metro
A derecho tracked across Indiana during late afternoon rush hour (4:00-6:00 PM), with sustained winds of 60-70 mph and gusts to 80 mph across the metro.
July 23, 2022: Tennis Ball Hail in Carmel
A violent supercell produced hail up to 2.25 inches (tennis ball size) in a narrow corridor from US-31 and 146th Street southeast to Keystone and 116th Street.
May 21, 2022: Widespread Hail & Wind Across the Indianapolis Metro
Multiple rounds of severe weather from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM produced hail from 1.0 to 1.5 inches and wind gusts to 70 mph across most of the metro.
June 18, 2021: Tornado Outbreak in the Western Indianapolis Metro
Five confirmed tornadoes touched down across central Indiana, with three affecting the Indianapolis Metro area during evening hours (6:00-8:00 PM).
May 16, 2019: Golf Ball Hail Across the Indianapolis Metro
Multiple severe thunderstorms tracked northeast across the metro from late afternoon through evening, producing hail from quarter size (1.0") to golf ball size (1.75").
