Why Checkered Flag

The Roofing Company That Tells It Straight

Roofing has a reputation problem. We built Checkered Flag to be the company we’d want to hire ourselves: honest verdicts, fixed prices, and a crew that finishes what it starts.

01

Fixed-Price Quotes

The number we quote is the number you pay. If we find rotten decking, we show you photos and a per-sheet price agreed up front, never a surprise invoice.

02

On Time, Every Time

Most replacements finish in one to two days. We confirm the schedule the week before, show up when we said, and call if weather moves anything.

03

Our Own Crews

No brokered-out labor. The crew on your roof works for Checkered Flag, follows our spec, and answers to the same foreman on every job.

04

Magnet-Swept Cleanup

Tarps over landscaping, debris hauled the same day, and a magnetic sweep of your lawn and driveway so the only evidence we were there is the roof.

A Note From the Owner

“We treat every roof like our name is on it, because it is.”

Most people only buy a roof once or twice in their life, and it’s easy to get burned by a storm-chaser who’s gone before the first leak shows up. We’re local, we’re here year-round, and our warranty means something because we’ll still be here to honor it.

If your roof doesn’t need replacing yet, we’ll tell you that too, and what to watch for so you know when it does.

The Difference

Built For Homes & Businesses Alike

The corners a storm-chasing crew cuts are the ones you cannot see from the ground. Here is what you get with us that a typical out-of-town contractor will not put in writing.

Ask any roofer for these, in writing:

  • A fixed price that cannot grow after the contract
  • A workmanship guarantee with a real term on it
  • Proof of Indiana licensing and insurance

If a roofer will not put those in writing, keep shopping. That includes us.

Answers

Roofing Questions, Answered Honestly

How much does a roof replacement cost in Indianapolis?
Most asphalt shingle replacements in the Indianapolis metro run $9,000 to $20,000 depending on roof size, pitch, and decking condition. Metal roofs typically run 2–3x the cost of shingles but last 2–3x longer. Every Checkered Flag quote is fixed-price and itemized after a free inspection.
How do I know if I have hail or storm damage?
From the ground, look for dented gutters or downspouts, shingle granules collecting at the bottom of downspouts, and dark spots on shingles. But most hail damage is only visible on the roof itself, which is why we document every inspection with photos you can hand directly to your insurance adjuster.
Will my homeowner's insurance cover a new roof?
If the damage was caused by a covered event like hail or wind, usually yes, minus your deductible. We don't process claims for you (and be wary of anyone who offers to "waive your deductible", because that's insurance fraud in Indiana), but we provide the photo documentation and itemized scope your adjuster needs.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most single-family homes are torn off and re-shingled in one to two days. Standing seam metal takes three to five. Complex roofs with multiple levels, steep pitch, or extensive decking repair can take longer. Your quote includes the expected schedule.
Should I repair my roof or replace it?
If the roof is under 15 years old with isolated damage, a repair is usually the honest answer, and we'll quote one. If shingles are curling, granules are shedding heavily, or leaks keep moving around, replacement saves money within a few years. Our inspection report tells you which side of the line you're on.
What's better for Indiana: metal or shingles?
Both perform well here. Architectural shingles are the value pick: 25–30 years of life at the lowest install cost. Standing seam metal costs more up front but handles Indiana's freeze-thaw cycles, hail, and wind better, lasts 50+ years, and cuts summer cooling costs. We install both and will price both if you're deciding.
