What to Photograph
- Shingles: circular dents, bruising, or bare spots where granules are gone
- Gutters & downspouts: dents on the lip are a strong hail sign
- Vents & flashing: bent or dented metal shows impact force
- Siding: cracks, dents, or punctures
- Inside: any ceiling stains or attic daylight
For Clear Photos
- Shoot in daylight, ideally midday
- Get as close as you safely can from the ground, use zoom
- Focus on one area per photo instead of the whole roof
- Stay off the roof and off ladders in bad weather
A photo review is a helpful first read, not a full inspection. Photos cannot show damage hidden under shingles or granule loss that does not show up on camera, so anything that looks like real damage gets a free roof-level inspection to confirm it.
