What the NWS Data Shows
A violent supercell produced hail up to 2.25 inches (tennis ball size) in a narrow corridor from US-31 and 146th Street southeast to Keystone and 116th Street.
The slow movement (5-10 mph) resulted in 15-20 minutes of continuous large hail in the worst-hit areas, causing not just shingle damage but deck penetration.
Some homeowners reported hail punching completely through roof decks into attics, requiring full deck replacement in addition to new roofing.

What to Check, and What to Watch Out For
Tennis ball hail is catastrophic. If you were in the damage path and have ANY concerns about your roof, inspection is mandatory.
Years after this event, some homes are still experiencing secondary failures as compromised deck sections finally give way under snow load or summer heat.
If you filed a claim for this storm and had only partial damage assessed, consider a re-inspection. Deck damage may not have been fully documented initially.
