For most of its history Ingalls was a few blocks of modest frame homes along the old interurban line in southern Madison County. Those builder-grade roofs are young now, but hail doesn’t care how new a shingle is, and builder-grade product is usually the lightest shingle the manufacturer makes. One good Madison County storm can bruise a roof that still smells like fresh lumber.
